| Lesley Arkin was our guest speaker at the Women in Enterprise November lunch. For those who could not make it, here is some information about Lesley and the worthwhile charity she supports. Give the gift of sight this Christmas Every five seconds, one person in the world will go blind. Every day in the UK at least one child is born blind or becomes blind, and 100 people start to lose their sight. Sight is so precious. That’s why Lesley Arkin Optometrist regularly supports Fight for Sight, the largest charity in the UK funding research into new ways to tackle eye disease and blindness. As part of this, and following the huge success of last year’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Lesley will once again be hosting a charity art exhibition and competition at the practice in Stony Stratford from Friday 30th November to Saturday 15th December 2007. The theme is ‘In Focus’. There are over 70 paintings on display, all of which are available for sale, with 15% of proceeds going to Fight for Sight. Enjoy the chance to win a painting by local mixed-media artist, Jane Rhodes; simply buy a numbered square for £1. Come and view the paintings – and vote for your own personal favourite! Exhibition winners will be announced on 15th December at 3.00 pm, when Milton Keynes artist, Diana Winkfield, will judge the paintings and award prizes for both artistic ability and interpretation. She’ll also present prizes to the top three artists (all local) from the popular vote. From Paris to Milton Keynes!
